Smith Mountain Lake, often referred to as the "Gem of the Blue Ridge," stretches 40 miles and covers over 20,000 acres, with a 500 mile shoreline. More than 25 marinas rent motor boats, jet skis, pontoons, and bass boats.
The lake is known for great fishing, particularly citation size striped bass. Swimming, water skiing, sailing, parasailing, scuba diving, hiking, tennis, horseback riding, clay shooting, shopping, and dining are also popular activities.
